12/06/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - San Bernardino, CA Darian is a SS/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At SS, Darian shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields with soft hands. He gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this switch hitter sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is fluid to load and drives through well with his lower half. He stays direct through the ball with fast bat speed, leading to consistent line drives and gap to gap pop. On the mound, Darian gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Darian shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 79mph with arm side run. Curveball sits from 62-65mph with 12-6 break. Slider sits from 67-70mph with 11-5 break. Overall, Darian is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

10/18/2019 - 2019 UA SoCal Classic Underclass Participant Solid player from both sides of the game. Showed some real skills at 3B making the routine plays, and even some athletic in the hole plays. Consistent thrower of the baseball with good velo. Swung the bat very well and used all parts of the field. If he gains some size and power, can be a very good hitter at the next level.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Darian is an athletic left handed hitting SS and RHP. In his time in Arizona, he proved to be a good teammate and player, with a great work ethic and passion to get better. Defensively, he worked around the ball well and got himself into an athletic fielding position, which allowed him to adjust to whatever hop the ball took. Arm played very well for the position, as he showed the ability to make strong/accurate throws consistently, and even on the run moving towards 1st base. Overall play was very solid, but fielding with lower hips will help him to present his hands out in front more. Offensively, he sprayed line drives to all fields through an athletic and square setup. Swing was quick and compact, as he kept his weight centered throughout his swing, kept his hands inside the baseball, and used his lower 1/2 to generate power. Also a pitcher, he displayed a smooth, easy, delivery, in which he stayed balanced and worked directly in line with his catcher. He featured 2 pitches from a high 3/4 arm angle, including a fastball which he pounded the zone with, that sat in the mid to high 50's with some tailing action, and an 11-5 curveball. Overall, Darian is already a polished young player, who with continued hard work, will excel on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
