12/06/2015 - College PREP - Pensacola, FL Darius showed again with his 5'10/170 lbs athletic/strong frame, this time posting a 6.93 sixty and a 8'7" broad jump. Defensively is where he truly shined, with easy movements to the baseball and a sure glove. He also took good angles to the ball, so paired with his plus foot speed, Darius is a prospect at either of the three spots at the next level. Offensively, he was balanced throughout the swing and got to a good hitting position, on-time with activated hands. He delivered the barrel direct down to contact and rotated his core to help accelerate through the zone. With more control over his head and with more patience for contact points, he will boost hit and power ability. All in all - Darius is a solid prospect that we look forward to tracking the next two years.

09/27/2015 - College PREP - New Orleans, LA Darius is a lean, athletic OF that will graduate in 2017 with a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with good barrel accuracy as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields and displaying gap to gap pop. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are aggressive as he works to get behind balls with grades improving as he plays through balls more with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Darius has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
