01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Darnell posted upgrades in all aspects of his game during his time at the Pre-Season. He is a top notch player with excellent skills. Defensively, Darnell has good pre-pitch actions, active feet, and athletic actions. He covers ground, makes plays, and throws with carry and accuracy across the diamond. Offensively, Darnell stands in athletically with an open stance. He has explosive bat speed, a short direct barrel, and he hits with power gap to gap. Hitting numbers improved to 60's, exit velocity to 94 MPH.

06/21/2021 - USA Baseball 17U Championships Darnell is a shortstop in the graduating class of 2023. He shows off a very physical and athletic frame that still has room to fill out with continued development. He is a very athletic kid that plays the game hard and with a great attitude. At SS, he shows off a rocket arm and continues to impress with his athletic ability. Starts with an active prep step and continues his active feet throughout the fielding process. Does a good job fielding the ball out front and shows very soft hands. This right-handed hitter starts in a comfortable and athletic stance. Shows a good load and stride that allows him to hit from a constant launch position. Showed aggressive actions at the plate and the intent to do damage. Barreled multiple balls throughout live game action and had exit velos that reached 86 MPH. Darnell is a natural leader who continues to strive to be the best player and person he can be.

05/29/2021 - 2021 BF National Florida Showcase Darnell continues to get better each time we see him. He is a hard worker with a high-level set - a great combination. At the plate he has a loose athletic RH stroke with some loud impact (94 mph exit velocity and a ball off the LF scoreboard in BP). He has quick hands and good barrel accuracy. Darnell is a smooth defender with outstanding actions. He plays low, moves his feet well and has excellent hands. He can make plays on the run and throw from different slots as well - all signs pointing to him staying at the premium position of SS at higher levels. Overall, this is a high-ceiling prospect with a bright future.

09/23/2020 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Darnell is a coachable SS prospect who showed well during the Arizona Fall Classic. In the field, Darnell shows great lateral range with tremendous first step quickness. He reads hops well and fields with soft hands. His exchange is clean and he makes accurate, strong throws across the diamond. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a controlled stride. He gets his hands activated on time in a simple load and is explosive driving his lower half through. He takes a level swing with plus bat speed and great barrel control, producing strong line drives and pull side pop. Overall, Darnell is a talented prospect who will be one to follow as he continues to progress.

09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Darnell continues to shine on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are at a pro level as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Throws are accurate with carry across the diamond. At the plate, hitting abilities are excellent through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Only a 2023 grad - Parker is a definite follow over the next couple of years.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Darnell has worked incredibly hard over the past 2 years and his improvements showed at the Pre-Season Rookie All-American. On the infield, Darnell shows athletic movements with smooth and effective footwork as he moves to the ball. He gets a +1st step off the bat showing agile range and fields the ball with soft and confident hands exchanging the ball in front of his body. He gets rid of the ball with a strong arm and accuracy showing a 91 MPH raw velo. At the plate, he sets up slightly closed with comfortable hands and starts his swing with a simple load. He gets his foot down under control as he gets his lower thru showing a smooth swing. He makes consistent contact with a line drive approach hitting the ball to all fields. Darnell has been an impressive prospect over the past few years and will be a player to watch as he continues to grow and get better.

10/16/2019 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Darnell is a coachable MIF prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Arizona Fall Classic. In the field, Darnell takes a good first step and is smooth moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body with soft, sure hands. He makes a quick exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a controlled stride. He is fluid getting his hands activated in his load and hits against a strong front side, producing solid contact. Overall, Darnell is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Darnell shined once again at the All American Preseason Rookie tournament. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Darnell continues to shine on the diamond. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, presenting hands as he makes the plays. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Darnell continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

09/23/2017 - FDI Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (12-14) Darnell is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square, athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and leads well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed which leads to consistent, square contact. Darnell can improve as a hitter by finishing his swing with a firm front side in his lower half. With six more years to develop, Darnell has the time and potential to further progress his skills at the plate.

07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Darnell continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are aggressive in attacking balls but needs to play through more with his body. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

03/26/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Ashburn (DC), VA Darnell is a SS/OF who will graduate in 2023. At SS, he displays quick/fluid footwork and he fields Gb's in a low/athletic position. He attacks the ball with soft hands and a clean exchange to throw. In the OF, he takes active routes tracking down hard-hit fly balls. He gets behind the ball and makes accurate/on line throws to his target. Offensively with the bat, Darnell presents an athletic setup with a smooth rhythm to load. He stays balanced as he drives pitches with pull side pop from gap to gap. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
