At the plate, he shows a good setup that starts slightly open but gets square after his stride. With his good load and smooth timing he uses his fast hands in a direct path to the ball resulting in consistent line drives. On the mound, a quiet gather step helps set him up for on time separation which is the beginning of his very clean delivery. 11/03/2018 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Pitching and Catching Weekend (Ages 14-18)
Darren is an athletic and talented pitching prospect that made several adjustments throughout the Mid Atlantic Regional Pitching and Catching Weekend. On the bump, Darren gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a controlled landing. He needs to continue to have a loose arm action and work over the front side. He keeps his eyes on his target and rotates his hips toward the plate. Continuing to work north to south and riding his back leg toward the plate will help him pound the bottom part of the strike zone. He has good movement on the fastball but developing a secondary pitch such as a changeup will allow him to work off the fastball more efficiently. Darren is very coachable and a hard worker. He will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.
