07/11/2015 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 1 Darryl worked out as a SS at the Cape Cod Select Training and Competition with Baseball Factory. Offensively, he showed a tall, narrow setup, and a level barrel path through the zone. He worked on his rhythm, timing, and lower half explosion in drill work. Defensively, he made plays with good ability when getting to his fielding position on-time, but when late, struggled to cleanly secure the baseball. His double play feeds were solid and he threw from multiple slots. In all - Darryl has this year to boost strength and consistency to his fundamental play in preparation for the next level.

03/22/2015 - College PREP - Bowie, MD Griffin is a R/R MIF who has a projectable frame (6'1"/175). In the MIF, he works into a square fielding position as he tracks the ball into his glove. He makes the plays with soft/sure hands and gathers well with a clean exchange to throw. Presenting his glove and fielding the ball more out in front will help to avoid getting the in-between hop. With the bat, this RHH shows an open stance ad he strides into the pitch. He works the square the ball up and uses the middle of the field. More lower 1/2 drive will result in increased power at the plate. This 2016 grad is a few adjustments away from unlocking his potential on the diamond.

09/13/2014 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 14-18) Commuter Darryl is a young, hard working ballplayer who is very coachable. At the plate, he shows a solid setup and square stride with an activated load. Darryl also shows the ability to attack the baseball with an aggressive approach and a quick bat. As a hitter, he needs to continue to work on using the entire body to swing by getting his lower half cleared and driving it. Darryl can also work on adding some rhythm to his load, as well as developing better balance throughout the swing.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
