12/20/2021 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Darryl is a SS who will be graduating in the class of 2023. He shows off an athletic body with room to continue to add weight. In the field, he shows good feet and works through the baseball. He does a good job of fielding the ball out front and off of his left foot. He showed lateral range multiple times throughout game action. At the plate, this switch hitter shows an aggressive approach and is willing to hit a fastball early in the count. He shows a good approach and will use the whole field. He competes well throughout at bats, especially with 2 strikes. Shows some pop from both side and had low 80’s exit velos from both sides. Darryl is a good kid that will benefit from continued development.

09/05/2021 - All-In Membership - Richmond, VA Darryl is an athletic SS/RHP prospect with great foot speed (6.97 60 time). In the field, Darryl shows fluid footwork and moves well laterally. He gets into a low position and fields with a firm glove. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, creating good carry through his target. At the plate, this switch hitter sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid to load and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a direct swing with fast bat speed, producing loud line drives to all fields. On the mound, Darryl gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing square to his target. Darryl operates with a four pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 77mph with arm side run. Curveball sits from 69-70mph with tight spin. Slider sits from 66-70mph with good movement. Spitter sits from 66-68mph with good downward action. Overall, Darryl is a talented prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
