01/28/2018 - Interactive Video Program - San Diego, CA Dashawn worked out at SS and RHP at his most recent event in San Diego. He showed good athleticism from a thin frame. At SS, Dashawn has fluid/active feet, quick actions, and he fields in a low/athletic position. He takes good angles to the ball, and throws with a quick arm action to his target. On the mound, Dashawn stands over the rubber well balanced, he has a loose arm action, and good direction toward home. At the plate, Dashawn is an aggressive hitter with quick hands and a compact swing. He is short to the ball and can hit to all fields. Dashawn can improve at SS and on the mound with work on the following.

Infield
1. Arm strength
2. Exchange
Pitching
1. Finish
2. Arm action
3. CB
Offense
1. Loosen grip
2. Rhythm/timing
3. Lower 1/2

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Dashawn is a coachable OF/2B prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory Winter Classic. In the field, Dashawn shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He fields in an athletic position and throws with a quick arm action. Dashawn can improve defensively by fielding the ball out in front of his body. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a crouched stance and takes a short stride. He gets back into his load and takes a short swing to the ball, making consistent contact. Dashawn can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. With four more years to develop, Dashawn has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

07/10/2017 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Dashawn continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve his foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through an uphill swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/29/2017 - Interactive Video Program - San Diego, CA Dashawn is an OF/2B who will graduate in 2022. In the OF, he displays loose/fluid actions. He fields the ball in a square position and works to stay behind on fly balls. In the middle infield, he presents active footwork with a clean backhand glove. He moves laterally with loose body actions and shows a clean exchange to throw. At the plate, Dashawn is a line drive type hitter. He swings his bat quickly though the zone, creating hard contact with each pitch. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Range
2. Soft hands
3. Body strength
Outfield
1. Smooth hands
2. Quick exchange to throw
3. Arm strength
Offense
1. Athletic stance
2. Stay balanced
3. More weight transfer

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
