08/10/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Frederick, MD David continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body during the blocking process centering balls out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.24 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. He is aggressive as he attacks balls through a level swing path. Hands are loose and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

03/10/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD David is a C/2B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, David shows active footwork and centers the ball when blocking. He presents a good target to the pitcher and receive with a firm glove. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate to 2B. Sitting a square stance can help David improve as a C. At 2B, David shows fluid footwork and gets into an athletic position, fielding with soft hands out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Increasing his lateral range can help David improve as a 2B. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with good extension, leading to consistent contact and line drives. David can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. With three more years to develop, David has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

06/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) David is an athletic C/2B that shows improvement since past events. His home-to-first time improved from a 5.53 to a 4.97. Behind the plate, David works hard and receives well with soft hands as well as plus blocking skills on balls in the dirt. He makes quick exchanges into a short arm action (OT arm slot) and makes accurate throws, using his body's momentum to throw the ball on a line. David improved on his pop time, showing a 2.75 time at past events to a 2.61. David can improve by being more vocal behind the plate. At the plate, David shows a spray type approach to all fields. He shows an athletic set up with a short stride and a good load. His rhythm is fluid as he keeps his balance center and stays through throughout his swing with his lower half. Bat speed is fast as he keeps a direct swing path to the ball and makes consistent contact. David can improve offensively by limiting excess movement and developing more bat control. David showed great intangibles at the event by asking questions and being coachable, along with hustling, making adjustments and being a team player.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
