07/27/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (HS) David continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he reads balls well off the bat and takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind ball and plays through with momentum to his target. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 73-75 mph with sink. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

02/20/2021 - Mid-Atlantic Pitching/Catching Training - Columbia, MD David is a tall RHP prospect who worked hard during the Mid-Atlantic Skills Weekend. On the mound, David gathers over the rubber and keeps his eyes on target. He works inline toward the plate and finishes with a controlled landing. David shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 73mph. Breaking ball sits from 57-58mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 69-70mph. Loosening his arm action can help David improve his pitch command and velocity. Overall, David is a developing prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

12/27/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Pittsburgh, PA David continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 75 mph. FB ranges from 74-75 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick (8 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

10/06/2019 - College PREP - Washington (Pittsburgh), PA David is a tall, lanky OF who will graduate in 2022. In the OF, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, David has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

12/27/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Pittsburgh, PA David is a tall, thin, 2-way player who pitches and plays 3B. On the mound, David stands over the rubber well balanced, he keeps his eyes on target, and works to his balance point well. He has a loose arm action, a controlled landing, and shows some glove side lead. In the INF, David has good pre-pitch actions, he centers the ball well on his body, and has a quick/clean exchange with accuracy to his target. Offensively, David has a square set-up, a short stride, and good separation. He is short to the ball and has a line drive approach. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
