06/02/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West David continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. Defensively at 1B, he shows active prep with fluid actions. He works around the GB and through it as he gains ground toward his target. Footwork around the bag is solid and he is a quality receiver. Exchange is clean with strong throws (88 mph velocity). Backhand is smooth with a quick release. At the plate, he has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone (91 mph exit velocity) as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps. David has big upside and will get looks from pro scouts with his baseball abilities.

10/28/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures West David is an imposing figure in the box at 6'4", 225-pounds. His approach is advanced with a rhythmic, balanced LH swing. His actions in the box are very natural and he has easy power to all fields. He hits with a controlled leg kick as he stalks the ball and when he brings the barrel the contact is very loud. David also reacts well to the ball out of the pitcher's hand, going 1-2 with a walk and hard hit single in the game that registered a 100 mph velocity off the bat. David also has good hands and handles himself well around the bag at 1B. Overall, this is a prospect with huge upside who is a run-producing LH bat.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
