03/17/2019 - College PREP - Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA David is a well-built 2B/RHP prospect who has a versatile skill set. In the field, David plays with effective footwork. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a square position. He has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from an over the top arm slot. He plays with good momentum through the baseball showing consistent throws across the diamond. Offensively, David has a square, athletic setup with his weight in the front of his stance. He has a good load with a square stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing path. He has a direct swing path and maintains simple mechanics. David is a line drive type hitter who looks to put the ball in play. On the mound, David works with good balance and repeats his delivery. He has solid mechanics with an on-time separation. David throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a clean arm action as he extends through his release. He stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. He rotates towards his target as he finishes. David shows good run movement on his fastball. He controls his curveball and his changeup is developing. Overall, David is a well-rounded prospect who can get even better with development.

07/09/2018 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) David continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works inside the ball through a line drive approach. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works around ground balls and squares up well. Hands / feet work well together as he presents glove well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

04/15/2018 - College PREP - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA David is an athletic SS who will graduate in 2019. At 2B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork but needs to play through balls more with his body. Glove action is soft /sure and he presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves and he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. David has abilities with a lot of room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
