01/13/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament David showed solid offensive abilities during his time at the Pre-Season. He is a strong hitter with good balance and bat speed. He has a still head, level swing, and he gets good extension through the ball. He makes solid contact and has good pop to the pull side. Defensively, David showed playable hands and feet he reads the ball off the bat well. He stays behind fly balls well, plays through, and throws with a long arm action, accurately to his target.

10/12/2011 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic - 2011 David showed well against outstanding competition at the Arizona Senior Fall Classic. He swung the bat well from the left side with a short, compact stroke. His hands are loose and his bat path is solid. He shows good head discipline and his approach leads to quality at bats. David lets the ball travel and uses the whole field well. In the outfield he is aggressive and breaks quickly on the ball. His throws are accurate and he works hard to get into proper position. Overall, David will be attractive to many college programs with his polished LH bat.

06/23/2011 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 2 Lund lowered his 60 time from 7.26 to 7.06 and showed offensive improvements in Omaha. He raised his hitting grade from 45 to 48. David showed good balance, a rhythmic swing, and a still head. He stays through the ball, has good barrel accuracy, and hits well to the opposite field. In the OF, David makes plays, goes back on the ball well, and attacks ground balls aggressively. At 1B, David moves well around the bag, has soft hands, and has a clean exchange.

12/18/2010 - Christmas Camp and Tournament 2010 - Session 1 David showed some improvements in his game during his time at Pirate City. He is a tough kid with solid defensive skills. He reads the ball off the bat well, tracks it well, and his exchange is clean. David throws with an accurate arm and average strength to his target. At the plate, David put the ball in play during all of his live at bats. He has a smooth lefty stroke, a good 2 strike approach, and he can work the ball gap to gap.

09/19/2010 - College PREP - Milwaukee, WI David is a young, OF who will graduate in 2012. Defensively, David has varsity average hands and feet and he attacks the ball well. He fields the ball out in front, has a good 1st step, and he makes plays on balls hit his way. David throws with accuracy to his target, and if he can work behind the ball better, use 2 hands, and lengthen his arm action, defensive grades will get even better. At the plate, David has good balance, bat speed, and barrel accuracy. He has a good set-up, a quiet / loose approach, and he gets good extension through the ball. David makes good use of his lower 1/2, and if he can get his front foot down sooner and avoid over-striding, we could see a spike in offensive grades. With two years left David will be a player to watch.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
