Official Scouting Report

  • 5Class Rating
  • OF/2BPosition Projection

12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) David is a coachable OF/2B prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. In the field, David shows smooth footwork and gets into an athletic fielding position. He fields the ball out in front of his body with sure hands and remains synchronized with his release. He throws with a clean arm action and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. David can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an atheltic stance and track the baseball well. He works to barrel up the ball and makes solid contact. Working a smoother load into his swing can help David improve as a hitter. Overall, David is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

10/07/2018 - College PREP - Parker (Denver), CO David is an athletic OF/2B prospect who will graduate in 2019. In the OF, David shows quick footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. David can improve as an OF by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At 2B, David shows efficient footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He fields with soft hands and works to make accurate throws to his target. Getting into an athletic fielding position can help David improve as a 2B. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a crouched stance and takes a short stride. He gets into his load well and drives through with his lower half. He works to barrel up the baseball and drives to all fields. David can improve as a hitter by taking a level swing path. Overall, David is a solid prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
