Official Scouting Report

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament David continues to show as a prospect on the diamond and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting / power potential are outstanding from both sides of the plate as he continues to show as a switch hitter. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with a feel for the barrel with gap to gap pop. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Throws display life, accuracy and on line carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. David has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches.

11/13/2016 - College PREP - Midland, TX David is a talented OF with tremendous foot speed (6.71 60 time). In the OF, David shows fluid footwork and is very agile covering ground. He gets into an athletic fielding position and presents his hand out front to field softly. He has a quick, clean exchange to throw with loose arm action from a high 3/4 angle. His quick release allows his throws to carry and remain on-line and accurate to his target. David can improve as an OF by using his legs more to throw. At the plate, David shows good pop from both sides of the plate. He sets up in a square, athletic stance and takes a square stride to the ball. He is smooth getting back into his load and comes through the zone well with his lower half. He takes a direct, on-plane swing path to the ball with explosive bat speed which leads to hard line drives and power. Overall, David is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
