08/07/2016 - College PREP - Dublin (Columbus), OH David is an athletic catcher who will graduate in 2017. Behind the plate, he has a quiet glove, and receives pitches cleanly, which allows him to make a quick transfer and throw the ball down to 2nd. While blocking he takes the proper angles down to the ball, however getting down slightly sooner/keeping his eyes down will help with consistency. At the plate, he has a closed setup, taking a short/quick stride to the pitcher and remaining balanced throughout his swing. Getting his hands into a load position pre pitch will help with power to all fields. With room still to grow, David will be exciting to track over the next few years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
