06/14/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Florida David continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has really improved, now an outstanding runner as indicated by his 60 time of 6.98. In the MIF, he uses his quick / athletic feet well in his lateral movements as he covers a lot of ground, displaying range. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process as he shows big play potential. Arm strength is at a pro level as indicated by his top 91 mph velocity. Throws display life, accuracy, and on line carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he has improved his hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (94 mph exit velocity) generating bat speed through a direct / level swing path. He has strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields, displaying gap to gap pop. David will get looks from the top collegiate coaches and pro scouts with his baseball tools.

09/19/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures East Vazquez is a well-rounded player with usable hit and field tools, and much improved speed - he has trimmed over four tenths of a second off his 60 yard dash in less than one year, now down to 7.07. At the plate, he featured a line drive stroke with a level path and good core rotation - allowing for consistent delivery of the barrel both in BP and against live stuff. He doubled and singled in three trips to the plate. Defensively, he played down low with the ball and got his hands out front. His actions were solid, especially on double play feeds and turns, and he got his throws across the infield well. Overall, a solid infield defender with improved athleticism and hitting ability.

11/16/2014 - National Tryout - Davie, FL David continues to show sound ability on all sides of the ball. Offensively, he was balanced in his setup and tracked well to contact, waiting passionately to explode his quick hands through the zone. Adding greater extension and more lower half drive will improve consistency with hard contact. At short, he fielded out in front with a sure glove and displayed decent range right and left. He was efficient with his feet and controlled with his body to make plays and will add fluidity with greater physical flexibility. All in all - David will be entering his sophomore season shortly, and should begin to turn heads.

06/10/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One Florida David is a young shortstop with a lengthy/slender frame. He is a plus defender with soft/sure hands and has easy actions making plays. He is under control with his body, simple with his approach, and light on his feet. He has a high ceiling at short and will be a guy to look at in the coming years. Offensively, he was fluid with his actions and delivered the barrel with a flat/line-drive path. He has the proper pieces and fundamentals in place to build off of as he gains strength. All in all - Vazquez is a rising sophomore that has a lot of upside for the next level middle infield play.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
