Official Scouting Report

01/10/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Stockton (Sacramento), CA David continues to show improvements in all his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 73 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/20/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Stockton (Sacramento), CA David continues to progress on the diamond. On the mound, this RHP has an effective 3-pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. He works to a balance point, has smooth separation and drives downhill toward the target. FB ranges from 66-67 mph while showing slight run. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with some bite. Continuing to work on consistency of his release point on his off-speed will help to improve effectiveness. As a hitter, he shows a tall stance with fluid rhythm. He takes a hack and swings against a firm front side, connecting with some pop to his pull-side. Only a 2025 grad - Wiser still has a ton of time to develop his skills.

12/02/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Sacramento, CA David is a young, 2-way player who pitches and plays 3B. On the mound, David has good balance, a loose arm action, and he keeps his eyes on target. He separates on time, lands with good direction toward home, and competes in the zone. At 3B, David has quick feet, agile movements, and soft hands. He fields athletically, has a clean exchange, and throws with a quick/accurate arm across the diamond. Offensively, David has an athletic set-up, good balance, he uses his lower body. He swings level and has strength in his swing. Overall skills can get better with work on the following.

Pitching
1. CB
2. Finish
3. Stride/balance
Infield
1 Pre-pitch actions
2. Throwing- arm slots
Offense
1. Let ball travel
2. Lower 1/2

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
