04/11/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Manalapan, NJ David is a 2024 prospect at the Catcher position. He shows off a physical body (6’1) with room to grow. Behind the plate, he does a good job staying in line with the bag on his throw downs. Clean exchange and throws with momentum behind them led to pop times as low as 2.03. Shows very good blocking fundamentals. Presents hands out front when receiving. At the plate, he does a good job of getting into a consistent hitting position. Does a good job keeping his weight back in his load. Gets his barrel on plane early and shows good extension. Ability to work gap to gap. David is a very good prospect with bright high school years ahead of him.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament David is a hard-working catcher that graduates in 2024. Behind the plate, David showed well with effective footwork and tracks the ball in well. As he works to throw to 2B he makes a clean exchange while gaining ground and delivers the ball with accuracy and a 2.18 pop time. Blocking, David showed a soft chest keeping the ball in front well. Hitting, David sets up in a tall stance as he starts his load. He uses his lower half well and works hard to get on plane with the pitch. He shows flashes of more power with + pop to the pull side. Overall, David will continue to develop at the plate offensively and defensively.

12/13/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Manalapan, NJ David is an athletic catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body during the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. Pop times showed in the 2.09 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. He is aggressive as he attacks balls through a level swing path. Hands are quick and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. With 4 years to further develop, David has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
