02/10/2019 - College PREP - Whittier (Los Angeles), CA Davis is a powerful backstop with a tremendous future on the diamond. With flexion and good sway he pockets pitches with a soft/sure mitt. Pop times are in the low 1.98 range with accuracy and on line zip (80 mph velocity) through his target. At the plate, he has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped (86 mph exit velocity) through the zone as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps. A talented prospect - he will make things happen both behind the dish as well as with the bat.

07/19/2017 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Davis is a talented C/OF prospect who has a strong, athletic build and graduates in 2019. As a right-handed hitter, Davis has an athletic, open setup with a centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and short stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Davis stays short to the ball and gets good extension and late whip in his swing. He produces square contact and has above average power to drive the ball to each gap. Behind the plate, Davis has a good setup and moves with fluid footwork and agile actions. He presents an effective, low target and stays square to the pitcher with good pocket awareness. Davis does a nice job framing and blocking the baseball. He has a clean exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has good momentum through his release showing consistently strong throws to 2B. Overall, Davis has a talent on both sides of the ball with a good approach to the game giving him a bright future on the diamond.

12/11/2016 - College PREP - Thousand Oaks, CA Davis is an athletic built C/INF prospect who has talent on both sides of the ball. Offensively, Davis has a square, tall setup with a firm front side. He has a quiet, simple actions and takes a square, on-time stride with a smooth load. Davis has explosive bat speed with good whip and extension at contact. He does a nice job effectively using his lower half throughout his swing with good core rotation. Davis has a line drive approach and drives the ball to each gap. Behind the plate, Davis has a solid base with his setup and presents a low target with a firm glove. He plays with quick, fluid footwork and agile actions. Davis has a quick, clean exchange leading into a long, loose arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He has a quick release and online throws with POP times ranging from 2.05-2.15 seconds. As an infielder, Davis plays with effective footwork and moves well laterally. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a low position, especially smooth his backhand. His arm action is short throwing from a low 3/4 arm slot producing online throws. Overall, Davis has an above average skill set and the potential to develop into a difference maker at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
