06/24/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Tacoma (Seattle), WA Dawsen is a strong built 3B prospect who has an above average skill on both sides of the ball. As a right handed hitter, Dawsen has a tall setup with his weight in the front of his stance. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and short stride as his lower half leads his swing. Dawsen has an aggressive approach and shows fast bat speed. He has a direct swing path producing consistently hard contact. Dawsen is a line drive type hitter who has a middle of the field approach. In the field, Dawsen plays with active footwork and agile actions covering good ground. He fields the ball in an athletic, square position with soft hands. He does a nice job reading the ball and reaction on slow rollers. Dawsen has a quick, clean exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays with good momentum through the baseball showing consistently online, strong throws across the diamond. Overall, Dawsen is a talented prospect who has potential to make an impact at the next level.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Dawsen continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond. Defensive abilities at 3B are outstanding as he displays smooth / clean actions. He works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line carry across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed and whip through the zone. He has strength in his swing and shows a plus feel for the barrel, displaying gap to gap pop.

09/24/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Tacoma (Seattle), WA Dawsen is a talented 3B prospect who has an athletic build. At the hot corner, Dawsen plays with quick footwork and agile actions showing good instincts. He fields the ball athletically with soft hands. Dawsen has a quick exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a quick release showing strong, accurate throws across the diamond. As a right-handed hitter, Dawsen has an open stance with a firm front side and centered balance. He has a load with a long stride. Dawsen shows fast bat speed with a direct swing path producing hard contact. The ball jumps off his barrel and he has the ability to drive the ball to each gap. Overall, Dawsen has an above average skill set on both sides of the ball giving him upside to be an impact player at the next level.

12/27/2016 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Dawsen is a big, solid 3B who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying solid hitting abilities with well above average power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive approach. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing and he shows a solid feel for the barrel with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered. At the event, he was 3 for 9 with 2 2B. At 3B, feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through a low approach. Glove action is clean and he presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a great team player. With 3 years to further develop, Dawsen has a lot of potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.
