09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament Dawson is a SS/RHP prospect who showcased his skills during the All-Region Tournament. In the field, Dawson shows efficient footwork and is agile attacking the ball. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He has a clean exchange and makes consistent throws to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and sprays the ball to all fields. On the mound, Dawson gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a quick arm and finishes with a controlled landing. Dawson's fastball tops out at 60mph. With four more years to develop, Dawson has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

10/06/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Spokane, WA Dawson raised arm velocity to 62 MPH and exit velocity to 61 MPH during his last workout in Spokane. At SS, Dawson gets in a good ready position, feet are active, and he fields athletically. He moves with agility to the ball, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a quick release and accuracy across the diamond. On the mound, Dawson has eyes on target, a clean arm circle, and a controlled landing toward home plate. Offensively, Dawson has a tall stance, he loads well, and he works the middle of the field. He makes square contact and can drive the ball the other way. Skills can continue to improve with work on the following.

08/05/2019 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Dawson continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are solid as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, power potential has improved through a squared, athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he builds overall strength. On the mound, he shows a long, loose, and live arm. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 60 mph. Fastball shows a range of 56-60 mph with slight arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape gradual break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

05/12/2019 - Accelerated Interactive Video Program - Spokane, WA Dawson is a RHP/SS prospect who will graduate in 2024. On the mound, he keeps his eyes on target and separates his hands on time. He shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 56mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 45-48mph with 10-4 break. In the field, Dawson shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a quick exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He works to barrel up the ball and drives to his pull side. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
