03/05/2017 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Dawson is a very talented, athletic/strong (6'2"/170) 3B who can make things happen. With the bat, this righty stands in well with centered balance and fluid rhythm to load. He jumps on pitches in the zone and fires the barrel with quick hands. The ball explodes when centered (exit velocity = 90 mph) as he drives the gaps. He is a threat once on base with his lightning quick speed - 60 yard dash of 6.62. At 3B, Read works fluidly from right to left making the plays with soft hands. He gains ground toward his target and fires strong throws with zip. Dawson is a skill 3B prospect who has the tools that will translate well into the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
