07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Dax continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, he threw his lowest pop time to date at 2.61 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Feet are active in gaining ground through a clean transfer / exchange. He shows a solid setup and sticks balls well in the zone and utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

11/12/2017 - Interactive Video Program - North Charleston, SC Dax is a young, R/R (2023 grad) catcher. Behind the dish, he sits in well and presents a low target. He tracks pitches into his mitt, has good sway and frames well. Exchange is clean with accuracy on his throws down to 2B (pop times as low as 2.83). With the bat, Dax shows a square/athletic stance with centered balance. He takes a hack at pitches he likes, barrels the ball up and engages his lower 1/2 well. Continuing to work on the following will help to improve his overall skill-set on the diamond.

Catching
1. Lateral quickness
2. Blocking technique
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Front front landing (timing)
2. Bat speed
3. Contact points

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
