07/10/2011 - Select Training at the All-Star Game (Pre HS) Dax is a 2016 graduate with an athletic body who plays the middle infield. He has a quick and short arm and is accurate to his target. As a fielder he has soft hands, shows fluid footwork yet he needs to quicken his feet. He fields in an athletic position, showed playable range and average feeds/pivots. Dax needs to work on a quicker first step because it is causing him to take poor angles to the ball. At the plate Dax has an athletic setup, a smooth load and square stride. His balance is stable and he uses his lower half well. He made consistent contact, showed good bat speed and has a level swing. Dax's rhythm/timing are fluid and smooth but he has a tendency to lunge. He needs to let outside pitches travel. Dax is a solid player but needs to adjust his work ethic in order to maximize his potential. If he chooses to do so, Dax can be a very good player down the road.

03/20/2011 - Interactive Video Program - Austin, TX Dax is a lanky, athletic 2nd baseman who also plays Football and Basketball. Defensively, Dax has firm hands, active footwork, and he shows good range. He fields in an athletic position, makes plays, and he works the double play nicely. Dax has a short / quick arm, and he throws with consistency and carry to his target. Offensively, Dax has an athletic / square stance, proper load, and short stride. He has good balance, average bat speed, and some pop to the pull side. Dax has a short swing path, and he makes decent use of his lower 1/2. If Dax can work on the following, offensive and defensive abilities can further improve.

Defense
1. Long toss
2. Work on backhand
3. Crow hop
Offense
1. Drive away pitch
2. Rhythm / Timing

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
