Official Scouting Report

  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

07/31/2016 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Dayton is a solid 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2018. On the mound, Dayton shows a three pitch mix with his fastball sitting from 74-76mph with good arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 67-68mph with an 11-5 break. Changeup ranges from 68-70mph with good arm side run as he throws with fastball arm speed. Dayton can improve as a pitcher by gaining more extension with his stride leg in his delivery. In the field, Dayton shows good body control and uses his feet efficiently. He has good energy in the field and uses good angles to field the ball. He has a clean exchange to throw which allows him to keep his throws on line to his target. Dayton can improve defensively by doing agility drills to improve his quickness. At the plate, Dayton has a middle approach and shows decent balance in the box. He tracks the ball well and comes through the zone with decent bat speed. Dayton can improve as a hitter by staying inside the ball more and by gaining more hand separation in his load. Overall, Dayton is a solid prospect and with two more years to develop he has the potential to contribute at the next level.

07/16/2015 - College PREP - Auburn Hills, MI Dayton is a 2018 two-way player that plays in the INF and pitches. On the hill, he threw his FB from 72-76, spun an 11/5 CB from 59-64, and showed a CH with sink from 64-69. He was mechanically sound, repeated his delivery with balance and rhythm, and has good presence. Offensively, he hit with flashes of pull side pop with his direct barrel and core rotation. He extended through contact and had a quiet head for strong barrel accuracy. Defensively, he prepped his feet, got to a fielding position on-time, and secured the ball with a sure glove. He displayed good energy, smooth actions, and strong body control to add some explosiveness to his game. Overall - Regier has another 3 years to add strength and consistency on the diamond for the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
