12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Dayton is a 2025 left-handed hitting OF/RHP who showcased his talents at the BF Recruiting Classic. He has a strong lower ½ and showed great athleticism in everything he did. In the outfield, he starts from an athletic position and has quick feet. He works behind the ball and keeps hands out front while fielding. He has a quick exchange and uses great momentum to his target. Dayton had a top arm velo of 88. At the plate, he has a square stance and an activated load. He has explosive bat speed and good rotational strength. He showcased some pop gap to gap during batting practice with an exit velocity of 84 mph. On the mound, he had a solid 3-pitch mix. His fastball sat 76-80 mph, his curveball had some sharp break sitting at 72-73 mph, and his change up had good run. He had great presence on the mound and solid mechanics which gave him some success. During the game, he threw 3 innings picking up 4 strikeouts and caused a lot of soft contact. At the plate, he had drove in a few runs with a single and triple. We foresee that Dayton will continue to catch the eyes of scouts both on the mound and at the plate.

08/13/2023 - National Showcase - Honolulu, HI Dayton is an OF/RHP who will graduate in 2025. Medium frame athletic build with strength present. In the OF, shows fluid feet and ability to cover ground. Fields ball out front from an athletic/low fielding position. Good reads off the bat enable him to flip his hips and works through the baseball with a 1-hand catch. Throws from a low 3/4 arm slot, with a loose arm stroke, and throws were accurate/on-line into the infield at 87mph. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and keeps eyes on target throughout his delivery. He has a loose arm with good extension out front. Attacks hitters with a FB that sits 75-77mph, an 11/5 shaped breaking, and a changeup with sinking action that he throws with FB arm speed. FB was best pitch during his bullpen. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and closed stance. Gets his knob to C and keeps his hands inside the baseball. A direct barrel path enables him to hit hard line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 82mph during BP. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we see him having a bright future on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
