12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Dayton continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active and plays through balls with his body. Glove action is soft sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and carry on his throws. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 57-60 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

08/18/2019 - Interactive Video Program - St. Augustine, FL Dayton is a young, athletic, 2-way player who plays SS and catcher. In the INF, Dayton covers ground well through efficient footwork. He has a presentable glove, fields athletically, and his exchange is clean with accuracy across the diamond. Behind the plate, Dayton sits in well, he works around the ball, and hands are firm. He shows a clean exchange and throws with a quick arm action to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 2.83 seconds. At the plate, Dayton can switch hit. From the right side, he has quick hands, he can hit to all fields, and he has pop away. From the left side, Dayton has a fluid swing, he hits line dries, and shows pop in his bat. Overall skills can continue to get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
