07/18/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Deacon is a solid, athletic 3B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel through a line drive approach, flashing gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 7 for 11 with 2 2B. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 68-71 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 4 years to further develop, Deacon has a lot of potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

12/29/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Indianapolis, IN Deacon is a young, 2-way player with good skills. On the mound, Deacon has good balance, a clean arm action, and he separates his hands on time. He has good mechanics, gets solid extension on his pitches, and he throws strikes. At 3B, Deacon has active feet, a soft glove, and he picks out the right hops. He fields squarely and has a loose arm action with accuracy to his target. Offensively, Deacon has a tall stance, he loads well, and he swings in good rhythm. He has fast bat speed, pop in his bat, and he works the ball gap to gap. Solid overall skill can continue to get better with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
