12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic Dean is a class of 2029 2B/OF prospect out of Poolesville, MD. In the field, he shows the ability to make accurate throws. Works downhill and fields the ball out front. At the plate, he shows a simple approach and stride. Does a good job getting his knob to the catcher and works to the middle of the field. Dean is a talented player who we hope to see again in the future.

11/03/2022 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex Dean is a 2B in the 2029 class. In the field, he moved well from side to side and squares his body to the baseball. He has solid pocket feel and the ball sticks to the glove. His eyes stay behind the ball and his exchanges are clean. Has feel around the bag and throws are accurate. Working to shorten his arm action will quicken his release. At the plate, he has a great set-up and is balanced. Has good barrel feel and uses an advanced path for his age. Catches the ball out in front of the plate and produces line drives to all fields. Scouts like his starting points and feel he has a great foundation. Possesses a high level of baseball knowledge and is a hard worker. Dean has a bright future on the diamond.

07/21/2022 - All-In Membership - Bowie, MD Dean is a lean 2B who will graduate in 2028. At 2B, he displays fluid/smooth actions. Feet are active as he attacks ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 7 years to further develop, Dean has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
