10/18/2017 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Dean continues to show the makings of a special type player at the next level. In the OF, actions are smooth, clean, and quick. He reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. Range is a plus as he covers a lot of ground. He works behind the baseball and plays through with momentum to his target. Hands / feet work well together in getting rid of the baseball quickly with well above average arm strength with throws showing life and on line carry. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 75-77 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with fading action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with early break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters, throwing strikes with all his pitches. He maintains good composure and competes on the bump. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.
