Official Scouting Report

  • 4Class Rating
  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

10/22/2023 - National Showcase - Highland Park (DFW), TX Decker is a 2024 RHP/1B prospect from Pineville, LA. At first, he does a nice job of centering the baseball and getting in a low, squared fielding position. He keeps the ball in front and makes all the routine plays. He tracks the ball to the glove and presents his hands out in front. He does a nice job of spinning glove side on throws to second. At the plate, he starts in a squared, tall stance and has a short stride to the pitcher with a good load. He keeps his balance centered and has a firm frontside with his lower half. He is very raw in the box and shows off a lot of strength. His bat speed is explosive and he has an awesome, direct swing to the baseball. He swings with intent and makes hard, consistent contact. He recorded a max exit velo of 93 MPH. On the mound, he gathers his balance over the rubber and gets on-time separation. He keeps his eyes on the target and has a good direction when driving to the plate. He has a quick arm action and does a great job of extending through his release point. He has a proper stride length for his frame. He throws with a lot of intent. He ran his FB up to 81 MPH and works hard to command the pitch in the zone. He gets on the side of his breaking ball and shows off gradual break with the pitch. He has sink with his CH and does a good job of throwing the pitch with FB arm speed. Decker is an exciting prospect that has a great chance to play at the next level!

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
