08/03/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Dennis is a team player who brings a coachable mentality to the ballpark every day. At the plate, this strong righty has fluid rhythm to load and waits for his pitch. He squares the ball up consistently creating hard contact (exit velocity = 85 mph). He hits the ball where it's pitched and drives it to all parts of the field. In the OF, Dennis hustles and tracks down fly-balls to his right and left. He gathers smoothly and fires from a long/loose arm action. On the mound, this RHP toes the rubber with a purpose. He works to a controlled balance point, maintains level shoulders and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 74-76 mph while showing tail. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape as he has faith to throw it in any count for a strike. He varies his looks and has a quick pickoff move, keeping runners close. Finishing with more extension out over his front side will help to improve effectiveness on all pitches. Beaudry is a well-rounded player who will make things happen with the bat.

02/22/2015 - College PREP - Mechanicsburg (Harrisburg), PA Dennis continues to show as a consistent two-way player from outing to outing with Baseball Factory. Defensively, he made plays with his efficient footwork and soft hands. He worked to and through the ball and ran his throws through the cut-off man. Offensively, he displayed decent hands to deliver the barrel and was on-time to contact. Remaining short to the ball and keeping his front side in will boost pop by creating leverage. On the hill, he split the zone with his FB, spun a 12/6 CB, threw a cutter, and a CH. His arm action was smooth, he got to a good balance point and was simple with his delivery, allowing himself to repeat. Adding flexibility and arm strength will help to improve his finish and boost his velocity. Overall - Beaudry continues to show his consistency and with added strength will be in great shape for next level play.

11/06/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Dennis is a hard working, coachable player who has progressed nicely. On the bump, he shows fluid rhythm and works smoothly. He keeps hitters off balance by changing speeds and mixing up his looks well. Plus command of his FB allows him to work the corners of the dish. Dennis works hard and attacks hitters. Working to develop a more consistent release point on his CB will improve its effectiveness. Offensively, he displays an open setup with rhythm to load. He remains balanced throughout his swing and finishes with extension. He squares the ball up consistently and hits line drives. In the OF, Dennis takes a quick first step and hustles to cover ground. Transfer/exchange is quick/clean as he gains ground toward his target with an aggressive crow hop. Beaudry is a gamer who should find success on the diamond.

08/14/2014 - National Tryout - Bridgeport, CT Dennis showed some of his best ability to date at his most recent Factory outing. Defensively, he made plays working behind and through the ball with a sure glove. He had a good approach to go get and was clean with his exchange. Quickening his feet and adding arm strength will improve overall play ability in the OF. Offensively, he has good rhythm to get to his launch position - on-time and with activated hands. He had balance throughout and was smooth with his actions. More lower half drive and top hand extension will increase hit and power potential. On the hill, he threw his three pitches with some sound mechanics. He complements his 73-74 MPH FB with a CH at 63-66 and a CB with 11/5 shape. All in all - Dennis continues to show improvement and we look forward to seeing his progress in AZ.

11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Beaudry showed as an OF/RHP at the event but currently projects best in the OF for the next level where he has improved his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.85 runner. Feet are quick / active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He is aggressive and reads balls well off the bat, flashing range in the OF. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to work to get behind balls more and play through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program and work to get rid of the baseball quicker. At the plate, Dennis shows a squared, athletic stance with balance. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a solid line drive approach. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands high in his load and improve barrel accuracy. At the event, he was 2 for 4 with a 2 BB as he displays a patient approach and a solid eye at the plate. On the mound, he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 73 mph. Fastball shows a range of 71-73 mph with cutting actions. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with tight spin and gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
