07/15/2013 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Bentley showed as a LHP and at 1B for the first time but continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver, displaying clean hands. Defensive grades will continue to improve as he learns to attack ground balls more, play through and present hands more out front. Throws are accurate and he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Denny shows a balanced approach with rhythm. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 74-76 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained.
