01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Derrick is a talented OF/RHP in the 2023 class. He recently impressed scouts with his actions on the diamond at the BF Pre-Season All-American event. In the field, he has quick feet (7.10 runner) and agile movements. Fields in a low and square position and shows a positive glove lane. His exchanges are clean and uses a high ¾ release to show his big-time arm (89 velo). His feeds are accurate and teams will not want to run on him. Will play aggressive and lay-out for baseballs as well. At the plate, he begins in an open stance and gets to a squared stride. Creates separation and stays inside his feet with sooth timing. Uses a level line drive path to stay inside the baseball and hit to all fields. Did not pitch due to rain on day 2 of the event. Derrick is a solid player will make a great addition to a college roster next year.

06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Derrick continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. In the OF not many balls get down that are hit his way. Transfer exchange is smooth as he zips throws (86 mph velocity) on a line through his target. He has the versatility to play all 3 OF spots effectively. Range is a plus as indicated by his 60 time of 7.06. At the plate, he continues to shine. He stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression (84 mph exit velocity) as he stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. Fastball shows a range of 73-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

09/16/2020 - Pathway AZ Underclass - 16U Derrick continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking balls down. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate with on line zip (85 mph velocity). At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 66-67 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/20/2020 - All-In Membership - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Derrick is a talented OF prospect who continues to shine. In the OF, he has active prep and hustles to work into position behind the fly-ball. Transfer/exchange is quick/clean with strong/accurate throws into his target. At the plate, this righty shows a balanced approach with patience. Quick hands whip the barrel with + bat speed as he engages his lower 1/2 and drives the ball with some pop. Only a 2023 grad - Fisher has skills with upside as he approaches his sophomore year.

07/16/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Derrick continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He needs to work to get behind more and play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

12/27/2018 - 2018 Inaugural West Coast Winter Classic - La Verne, CA Derrick is a coachable OF/2B prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the West Coast Winter Classic. In the field, Derrick shows active footwork and works behind the ball well. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body with soft hands. He gains momentum well on his throws and keeps them accurate to his target. Quickening his exchange can help Derrick improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance with loose hands. He is controlled getting his hands activated and drives through well with his lower half. He rotates his core well and produces solid contact. Derrick can improve as a hitter by taking a square stride towards the pitcher. With four more years to develop, Derrick has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/02/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Sacramento, CA Derrick is a scrappy 2-way player who plays 2nd base and OF. In the INF, Derrick has quick feet, agile movements, and he fields athletically. He has good pre-pitch actions, solid baseball instincts, and a short/accurate arm with carry across the diamond. In the OF, Derrick has a good 1st step, efficient footwork, and firm hands. He goes back on the ball well, makes plays, and has a loose/consistent arm to his target. Offensively, Derrick has a tall set-up, he loads well, and swings in good rhythm. He swings on plane, can hit to all fields, and uses some lower body. Derrick can improve overall skills with work on the following.

Infield
1. Base
2. DP's
3. Aggressiveness
Outfield
1. Arm strength
2. Play through ball
3. Release
Offense
1. Avoid lunging
2. Lower body

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
