11/08/2024 - Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Select Training & Competition (HS) Derrick is a strong and dedicated outfielder and first baseman from Burkesville, KY, who will graduate in 2025. He recently worked hard to improve his skills at the Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Training in Arizona, where his effort and focus were evident across all phases of the game. In the outfield, Derrick plays with great effort, getting a quick first step back on fly balls. He has a clean transfer off his right foot and throws from a high three-quarter arm slot, consistently making accurate throws to the infield. At the plate, Derrick starts in a closed stance and generates natural juice in his swing, showing late bat whip and the ability to drive the ball with a firm front side. During live game action, he reached base with a triple and a single, proving his ability to make solid contact and produce extra-base hits. With another season of growth and development, Derrick has the potential to continue refining his skills and become a more well-rounded player both offensively and defensively.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
