07/11/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One South DeShawn is a very gifted athlete (6.62 sixty) that showed his best ability at the Team One South Showcase presented by Baseball Factory. Defensively, he moved well laterally and fielded with clean hands. He finished plays with good arm strength and carry on his throws. Offensively, he hit from an athletic setup with plus bat speed and barrel accuracy. He has good feel to hit and went to his pull side with good pop. On the mound, he topped out at 88 with his running fastball and threw a sinking CH at 75-76. He threw his 2 seam FB with good downward action and movement and was able to repeat with clean/easy mechanics. Overall - DeShawn has displayed plus athleticism and ability time in and time out and we look forward to tracking him the rest of the way through high school.

01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Lookout has a well proportioned frame with room to fill out at 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds. He features a loose right handed stroke with some ability to accelerate the barrel through contact. He has naturally athletic actions to hit, along with good hand-eye coordination and ability to hit the ball to all fields. Defensively, he works light on his feet and showed the ability to play thru the ball with momentum along with some ability to catch and throw. He runs well enough, at 4.33 down the line from the right side, and showed evidence of arm strength on the mound where he posted an easy 84-86 from an upright delivery.

07/31/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 DeShawn is a young INF that also jumped on the bump in his latest Factory outing at Pirate City. On the mound, he threw three pitches, with a fastball topping out at 86 MPH. He showed above average mechanics and great mound presence. He has present arm speed and is not afraid to pound the strike zone with his fastball and off-speed pitches. At short, he is athletic getting around balls, has quick feet and sure hands. He moves well laterally and with more follow to his throws can make plays in the hole. Offensively, he has an athletic setup, level swing path, and flashes explosive bat speed with good pop presently. DeShawn has a great build and is very projectable. We look forward to tracking Lookout throughout his very promising high school career.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
