07/22/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (MS) Destin is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, Destin shows efficient footwork and is agile covering ground. He fields the ball out in front of his body and has a clean exchange. He gets rid of the ball quickly and makes accurate throws to his target. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Destin field ground balls more efficiently. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance with loose hands. He rotates his core through well and drives the ball from gap to gap. Destin can create more consistent contact by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Destin gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works inline toward the plate and finishes with a controlled landing. Destin operates with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 71mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits from 58-60mph with 11-5 break. Lengthening his arm action can help Destin improve his pitch command and velocity. With four more years to develop, Destin has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

12/27/2020 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic Destin continues to show a promising future on the diamond with his baseball abilities. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 2 for 4. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 65 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Control is a plus as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. He is a vocal leader on the diamond and plays with high energy.

10/18/2020 - All-In Membership - Charlotte, NC Destin is an athletic, R/R 2-way player (SS/RHP) who can make things happen in a variety of ways. Defensively, he shows quick/active footwork and moves fluidly right to left around the GB into an athletic fielding position. Hands are soft as he funnels smoothly to a clean transfer working in-line toward his target. Offensively, this righty has a balanced stance with fluid rhythm to load. He jumps on pitches he likes, squares the ball up and creates good extension through contact. On the mound, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and stays directional toward the dish. He repeats his delivery well and finishes with extension. FB ranges from 61-63 mph as he works it in and out. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with good action - 52-55 mph. More lower 1/2 drive along with a long toss program will help to increase velocity on his FB. Faile has a solid skill-set with a ton of upside and a lot of time to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
