11/06/2020 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Deven continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he shows as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the all, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 1B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents well out front. He consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 61 mph. Fastball showed a range of 60-61 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best he can be.

01/26/2020 - Interactive Video Program - San Diego, CA Deven is a thin, lefty, 2-way player who plays 1B and LHP. Defensively, Deven has active feet, a presentable glove, and he fields low and athletically. He makes plays, centers the ball well, and throws accurately to his target. On the mound, this LHP has good balance, a clean arm circle, and he separates his hands on time. He keeps a still head, has good glove tuck, and he finishes in a complete position. At the plate, Deven has a square stance, good balance, and fast bat speed. He has a short/direct barrel, he hits line drives, and he uses his lower body. Solid skills can further improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
