06/29/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Devin continues to show big upside on the bump. On the mound, this righty has a 3 pitch arsenal in which he keeps hitters guessing. FB jumps out of his hand and shows some arm side run - 90 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with tight spin and late/sharp break. Changeup has sinking action as he maintains arm speed with the pitch, showing a feel for. He works tall and drives downhill, repeating well. Don't be surprised to hear this young man's name called in next year's MLB draft.

11/07/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures Texas Devin continues to get better each time we see him. He attacks hitters with a tailing/sinking fastball from a 3/4 slot. He ran his FB up to 88 mph in this outing and loves to throw it inside to RHH. Devin complements that FB with a breaking ball that has a 2-plane break and a change. His breaking ball has depth and he has a lot of confidence in it - using it as his out pitch and consistently landing it in the bottom of the zone. His change shows future promise with its late fade. He is a strike thrower thanks to a compact, repeatable delivery and a consistent release point to all of his offerings. Overall, this is a competitor on the mound that has a very bright future.

01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Devin is a 6'1/170 lbs sophomore hurler with good athleticism - as evident by his 7.0 sixty. On the hill, he had a live arm and threw his FB with run from 82-86 MPH. He also showed an ability to really break off a CB with 12/6 shape and sharp action at 70-72. Mechanically, he got to a good balance point, stayed direct to the dish, and repeated his actions with good rhythm. He struck out two, and induced a mix of ground-ball and fly-ball outs, in 3 innings of showcase work. Overall - Devin has great upside and should be on a lot of radars as he enters his sophomore spring season.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
