08/01/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (HS) Devin is a coachable 2B/3B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, Devin takes good angles to the ball and gets into a low position. He fields the ball out in front with soft hands and has a clean exchange. He gets rid of the ball quickly and makes strong throws to his target. Increasing his lateral range can help Devin make more plays. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a soft stride. He gets into a small load and works through a level swing, producing loud line drives. Devin can generate more pop off the barrel by driving his lower half more. Overall, Devin is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

05/23/2021 - All-In Membership - Highland Park (DFW), TX Devin is a 2B/3B who will graduate in 2022. Medium frame, barrel chested, with an athletic build and strength present and plenty of room to develop. At 2B, he showed a good pre-pitch routine and quick/active footwork. Creates good angles glove side as he works through the ball. Works into an athletic fielding position and fields out front. Short arm action into a 3/4 arm slot with a recorded arm velocity of 80mph. Showed good touch on his DP feeds. At 3B, tries to create good fielding angles. Ability to throw from multiple arm slots, with clean transfers, and made accurate/on-line throws across the diamond. A right-handed hitter who hits from an athletic and open stance. A simple load, with good balance at contact, who keeps his hands inside ball. Short bat path through the zone with good extension through contact. Hit balls hard into both gaps with a bat exit velocity of 84mph. With another year of growth and development, we foresee Devin having opportunities to play at the next level.

03/21/2021 - All-In Membership - Frisco (DFW), TX Devin continues to shine on the diamond. At 2B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is firm and presents out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
