08/01/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Devyn is a short and athletic 2019 OF prospect that works hard and plays big. Hes eager to learn and made several adjustments throughout the week at Pirate City. In the OF, Devyn is on time with his prep step, reads the ball off the ball well, and is aggressive on ground balls. He has a clean exchange and creates momentum in his lower half when throwing the ball. He needs to continue to improve his first step to the ball and beat fly balls to the spot. This will stop him from drifting to the ball. At the plate, Devyn starts in a crouched stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and stays balanced through contact. He hits off a firm front side and keeps his head down at contact. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball, create backside rotation, and hunt the fastball. Devyn will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

04/29/2018 - College PREP - Fairfield, CA Devyn is a hardworking outfield prospect who plays the game hard. In the outfield, Devyn plays with effective footwork and goes back on the ball well. He takes great angles with an aggressive approach. Devyn fields the ball in a square position with a firm glove. He has a clean exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. His throws are consistent and he is developing arm strength. Offensively, Devyn has an athletic setup with a centered balance and firm front side. He has fluid rhythm with a short stride. Devyn has a direct swing path with quick hands producing hard contact. He is a contact type hitter who has the ability to use the whole field. Overall, Devyn is a well-rounded prospect who has skill on both sides of the ball.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
