Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

03/06/2011 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Dillon participated at 2nd base and on the mound during his workout in Edmond, OK. Defensively, Dillon displayed soft hands, fluid footwork, and good range to the glove side. He fields in an athletic position, makes plays, and he has a clean / quick exchange. Dillon has a loose arm action and he throws with average strength and good accuracy to his target. If Dillon can soften his backhand and continue to strengthen his arm, INF grades can improve. On the mound, Dillon works in smooth rhythm, his arm action is free and sound, and he works to his balance point well. He improved his off-speed pitches since his last workout, he has good direction toward home, and he finishes in a complete position. If Dillon can strengthen his arm and use his body more, mound effectiveness can further improve. At the plate, Dillon showed an athletic set-up, proper load, and a short stride. He has a good approach, solid separation, and his bat speed is average. Dillon has a fluid swing, he makes square contact, and he can spray to all fields. Dillon will need to avoid wrapping his bat and use more lower 1/2 to get better at the plate.

11/11/2010 - Pirate City Select Training Dillon showed solid improvements in his game during his time in Pirate City. He lowered his 60 time from 8.0 to 7.45, and also improved his arm and hitting grades. Defensively, Dillon made all the routine plays, his hands work nicely, and he fields out in front. He showed an accurate throwing arm during game play. Improved footwork will only elevate defensive grades further. On the mound, Dillon has excellent balance, a clean / short arm action, and a good delivery. He repeats his delivery well, and competes in the zone with all 3 of his pitches. A longer arm stroke and continued long toss should elevate mound effectiveness. Offensively, Dillon we 2-6 in game play. He makes solid contact and flashed nice barrel accuracy. He'll need to stay on the ball, and develop added physical strength in order for continued offensive improvement.

03/07/2010 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Dillon is a young, thin, 2B that will graduate in 2012. At 2B, Dillon presents his glove well, starts in a low fielding position, and shows soft hands. He has active feet, a quick turn, and follows his flips to the bag. Dillon is fundamentally sound, makes plays, and throws accurately to his target. Added arm strength, along with physical weight and maturity will help Dillon's defensive game improve. At the plate, Dillon tracks the ball well and transfers his weight properly. He centers the ball up well on the barrel and makes good use of his lower 1/2. Added strength as he gets older will help overall hitting and power numbers improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
