07/19/2021 - All-In Membership - Trenton, NJ Dillon is a C prospect who graduated in 2021. He continues to show improvement in all facets of his game. Tall frame, with thick lower, and athletic build with strength present. Behind the dish he has quick/efficient feet, with athletic actions, and makes it look effortless. An ability to stick balls with a loud mitt. Good lateral movement, with good blocking angles, and a soft chest. Rolls shoulders and blocks the 5-hole. He works thumb under, with a quick/clean exchange, into a 3/4 release point with accurate/on-line throws to second base. Arm velocity was 83mph and his best pop time was 1.94 seconds. A right-handed hitter, he hits from an athletic and open stance. Square stride, with a small hand load, and a good bat angle at contact. Strength in swing, as he attacks the baseball, and gets extended through the baseball. Made loud contact into both gaps with a bat a bat exit of 86mph during BP. With continued development Joel should have a bright future on the baseball field.

03/25/2018 - College PREP - Madison (NYC), NJ Dillon is a lean, athletic catcher with a promising future on the diamond. He utilizes his feet well in working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.02-2.14 with carry through his target. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. He is flexible and displays a solid setup and utilizes his body well through the blocking process. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting with outstanding power potential through an athletic setup. He gets to a strong launch position and shows quick hands (85 mph exit velocity) that generate bat speed to and through contact, creating extension. Barrel accuracy is a plus with strength in his swing as the baseball explodes off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. With 3 years to further, Dillon has a ton of potential and is a sure player to follow.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
