Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHP/1BPosition Projection

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Dillon was very impressive in Arizona at the UAAAPS Tournament. He is a talented 2-way player who showed well in all facets, though it appears his highest ceiling is on the mound. He pounded the strike zone in his outing, using a fastball that sat mainly in the mid to upper 80s, but touched 92 mph when he needed it. He commanded all of his stuff very well - not afraid to pitch inside to right-handed hitters, and landing his breaking ball for strikes. That pitch had good depth, and he completed his 3-pitch mix with a very good change. Dillon was in total control on the mound striking out 8 and not allowing a hit. As a position player he showed a solid left-handed stroke during BP spraying line drives to the pull side with good feel for the barrel. He is also very comfortable around the bag at 1B with sure hands and instincts for the game. Overall, this University of Kentucky commit can do a bit of everything on the field to help you win.

09/27/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Scranton, PA Dillon is a 2018 grad with a projectable frame and mature feel for the game. On the mound, this LHP shows incredible confidence and feel for all his pitches. His maturity and knowledge of the strike zone makes him a reliable starter in any rotation. As Dillon fills out into his large frame and continues to gain arm strength, success on the mound will only increase. At 1B, he works around the bag like a veteran with athletic actions and multiple arm slots. He is confident with DP turns and balls in the dirt. Offensively, Dillon hits with lightning quick hands with tremendous pull side pop. With his ability to put balls deep into the stands and hit to the opposite field with pop, Dillon is a threat in any part of the lineup. Overall, Dillon's list of next level tools is on going and will see a bright future in this game.

01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Dillon is a projectable, confident LHP/1B'man graduating in 2018. On the mound, this southpaw showed some serious mound presence with an idea of the game. He threw from a hi 3/4 arm slot with smooth, clean arm action. His 3-pitch mix and ability to command both sides of the plate allowed him to set his own tempo and control the game. Defensively, he works from an athletic, aggressive stance. He works around the bag well with a great glove. At the plate, he hits from a square, athletic stance with loose/active hands. He engages his lower 1/2, which gives him the drive to shoot the ball in the gap with ease. Dillon is a next level player with a great idea of the game. He will see a bright future on the diamond as he continues to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
