Official Scouting Report

  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Dillon continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he has improved the most through a tall, open setup and simple approach. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He stays inside the baseball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 3B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Hands are clean and present well out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but will benefit by playing through with his body. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 70 mph. Fastball showed a range of 69-70 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and a very hard worker.

05/21/2017 - College PREP - Redwood City (San Francisco/San Jose), CA Dillon is a hardworking 3B/RHP prospect who has an athletic build and graduates in 2019. In the field, Dillon has a quick first step and moves well in each direction laterally. He has a smooth backhand and quick exchange leading into a restricted arm action. He plays with good momentum through the baseball to produce strong, online throws across the diamond. Offensively, Dillon has an open, athletic stance. He has a good load with a square stride. Dillon is a contact hitter who shows solid contact to the pull side. On the mound, Dillon has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He extends through his release with a clean arm action and controlled landing. Dillon does a nice job rotating with his hips towards his target. He has a full arsenal and locates his off speed pitches well. Overall, Dillon has a well-rounded skill set and good approach to the game to give him a bright future on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
