01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Dominic brings an impressive mix of loud tools to the table. He tied for the fastest 60-yard dash time at the Under Armour Pre-Season Tournament with a 6.43. He has a strong, compact frame and his straight-line speed transfers to the field where he plays the game extremely fast with strong, easy stride. He was on base in 4 of his 6 game at bats and he patrolled the outfield very well during games. The explosiveness was on display in workouts as, besides the 60 time, he registered a 97 mph exit velocity and broad-jumped 10'6”. Profiling as a centerfield prospect who can also play second, Dominic is an exciting prospect in the 2020 class.

11/03/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures Texas Dominic continues to get better each time we see him. He shows an outstanding mix of raw athleticism and baseball feel, allowing him to play at an extremely high level. His game starts with speed. He ran a 6.45 in the 60, went home to 1st in 4.25 from the right side and showcased big bat speed. His swing is short and quick with lots of barrel accuracy and the ability to drive the ball into gaps. There is a confidence he displays in the batter's box and it is obvious that he steps to the plate to do damage each at bat. Defensively, Dominic has the range and instincts to play CF at a high level while also showing the ability to play 2B. This versatile defender has a coveted top-of-the-order/middle-of-the field-defense profile.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament One of the most dynamic athletes at the event in Arizona was Dominic Johnson. Already committed to Oklahoma State, he posted impressive measurables across the board. Dominic ran a blazing 6.50 in the 60 with the speed coupling with instincts to give him the range to play CF. His arm played well with raw arm strength of 85 mph. At the plate, Dominic had a line drive approach with very quick hands that generated plus bat speed (92 mph exit velocity). He stands in well and has the ingredients of a high-level hitter. This is a prospect who can impact the game in many ways.

05/19/2013 - Interactive Video Program - San Antonio, TX Dominic is a young, OF with a thin frame. Defensively, Dominic has fluid footwork, soft / sure hands, and he takes good angles to the ball. He has a good 1st step, his exchange is quick and clean, and he throws with a short / quick arm with consistency to his target. At the plate, Dominic has a square set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He has fast bat speed, he makes consistent contact, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Abilities can improve with work on the following.

Outfield
1. Long toss
2. Catch ball at highest point
3. Avoid drifting
Offense
1. Level off swing
2. More direct hands to ball

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
