Working under low pitches and eliminating post pitch manipulation will allow him to control the ball longer in the strike zone. He leads with his glove and controls balls with his chest when blocking. Continuing to work on hip mobility will allow him to block side to side and get his lower half in a strong foundation. He has soft hands, keeps the ball in front when blocking, and throws with consistency to 2nd base. On the mound, Dominic has a repeatable delivery, a clean arm action, and he separates on time. He gets good extension on his pitches, has a controlled landing, and rotates through to his target. More lower body and glove-side lead can help mound effectiveness get better. Offensively Dominic has a square set-up, short stride, and good balance. He has a short/direct barrel to the ball and can hit hard to the pull side. Looser actions, better timing, and better barrel accuracy will help hitting numbers improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
