07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Dominic is an athletic and talented 2023 2-way prospect that made several adjustments throughout the week at Pirate City. Behind the dish, Dominic was eager to learn. He needs to continue to start in an athletic/ balanced primary and secondary stance. Presenting a low target and working from the ground up will allow him to control ball in the strike zone. Leading with his glove and controlling balls with his chest will make him a more efficient blocker. He needs to exchange the ball in front of his body and create momentum in his lower half in order to stay directional when throwing to the bases. At the plate, Dominic starts in a squared stance and loads his hands back. He showed good pitch recognition by walking in 4 of his 9 AB's. He needs to continue to create back hip rotation, attack the inside part of the ball, and stay balanced through contact. On the bump, Dominic gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and finishes over the front side. His fastball sits 59-65 mph and he has an 11-5 spin on his breaking ball. He needs to continue to work north to south and ride the back leg toward the plate. Dominic is a competitor that will build confidence through experience and repetition. We hope to see his progress in the future.
