06/09/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory All-State Tournament Dominick continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities at the All-State event. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering ball out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time at 2.06 with accuracy / carry (85 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick (94 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, and strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. At the event, he was 4 for 7 with a 2B. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 85 mph. Fastball shows a range of 80-85 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late / sharp break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches.

01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Dominick is a RHP/C prospect who showcased his skills during the Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament. On the mound, Dominick gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing with a controlled landing. Dominick operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 80mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits from 58-60mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 67-69mph with cutting action. Behind the dish, Dominick is active moving to block and keeps dirt balls in front of him. He sits in an athletic stance and receives with a firm glove. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this switch hitter sets up in a tall stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth to load and hits against a strong front side. He works through a direct/level swing and sprays the ball to all fields. Overall, Dominick is a talented prospect who has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

09/24/2021 - MS All-Region Tournament Dominick continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 82 mph. Fastball showed a range of 79-82 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and stays inside the ball through a line drive approach. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.25 range with accuracy / carry (85 mph velocity) to his target. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front, sticking balls in the zone. He tries to use his body through the blocking process but will benefit by improving secondary setup and working to get body down sooner.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Dominick is a RHP/C prospect who showcased his skills during the Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament. On the mound, Dominick gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Dominick shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph with late arm side run. Breaking ball sits at 62mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 67-68mph with tailing action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Behind the plate, Dominick shows efficient footwork and is agile moving to block. He presents a good target to the pitcher and receives with soft hands. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making accurate throws with carry through the 2B bag. At the plate, this switch hitter sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth to load and drives through well with his lower half, producing strong contact and gap to gap pop. With three more years to develop, Dominick has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament Dominick is a skilled 2-way player who excels with the bat. Offensively, he shows an athletic stance with centered balance and a strong base. He has smooth rhythm to load, whips the barrel to and through the zone and has some pop off of his barrel - exit velocity = 86 mph from the right side. Behind the plate, he sits in well and tracks pitches into a soft mitt. He moves well laterally and centers pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Transfer is clean and he stays directional on throws down to 2B. Patruno also can toe the rubber and throw strikes. FB tops out at 77 mph while coming out a little deceptive and giving hitters a difficult look. Breaking ball has 'slider' like spin with good action. Knuckleball shows some 'dance' and will only continue to improve as he throws it more and develops a feel. Dominick is a solid prospect who has upside and should find success in this only his Freshman year.

07/18/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Dominick continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, pop times in the 2.38 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blockings tools show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 72 mph. Fastball shows good cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with loose spin and good depth. He throws a knuckleball that displays good tumbling action. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

07/16/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Dominick is a young C/RHP that graduates in 2024. Behind the plate Dominick presents his hands well tracking the ball all the way in. He has an athletic secondary making a clean exchange with accurate throws to 2B. Working on blocking footwork can improve his game. Dominick sets up in a square stance with comfortable hands taking a short and square stride. He gets his foot down on time with a centered lower half. He shows the ability to spray the ball to all fields. On the mound Dominick showed a 2-pitch mix with a FB/CH. He shows good rhythm on the bump gathering over his back leg and separating on time. His AA is clean as he strides in line to the plate. Working on long toss can improve Dominick's arm strength. Dominick is young and has several years to develop.

03/02/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Hitting Weekend (Ages 12-14) Dominick is a coachable C/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. On the mound, Dominick gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate. Dominick shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 64mph. Knuckleball sits from 49-51mph. Changeup sits from 56-58mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Extending through his release more can help Dominick improve as a pitcher. At the plate, this switch hitter shows a solid swing from both sides. He sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He gets into his load and drives the ball well. Dominick can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. With five more years to develop, Dominick has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/09/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Nyack (NYC), NY Dominick is a young, 2-way player who catches and pitches. Behind the plate, Dominick sits in well, he looks the ball into his glove, and tries to keep it in front when blocking. He has a quick exchange, a smooth release, and an accurate arm to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 2.78 seconds. On the mound, Dominick has a clean arm circle, good balance, and he separates on time. He keeps his eyes on target and has a controlled landing toward home plate. Offensively, Dominick can switch hit and is equally as good from both sides. From the right, Dominick has good balance, he tracks well, and can hit to all fields. From the left side, Dominick has a smooth/simple swing, a level approach, and he uses his lower body. Dominick can get better with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
