12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Donavin is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time and the Winter Classic. Behind the plate, Donavin presents a good target to the pitcher and receives with firm hands in the center of his body. He throws down to 2B from over top and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to the bag. Donavin can improve defensively by quickening his exchange to throw and by shortening his arm action. At the plate, Donavin sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride to the ball. He is smooth getting back into his load and comes through the zone with his lower half. He has a great barrel control and he produces consistent contact to all fields. Donavin can improve as a hitter by activating his hands more in his load. Overall, Donavin is a solid prospect who has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

On the mound, Donavin shows a three pitch mix with his fastball sitting from 58-62mph. Breaking ball ranges from 48-51mph. Changeup sits from 52-55mph. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
